To enrol in an Advanced Study Major, you must be a current student, or alumni of, the Diploma of Counselling. This is because ASM’s are comprehensive specialist programs, they pre-suppose a foundational knowledge of counselling and mental health.

Advanced Study Majors (ASMs) are advanced learning programs in topical areas of mental health practice. They can be undertaken in addition to our Diploma of Counselling. There is no limit on the number of Advanced Study Majors you can undertake.
Specialist programs
ASMs are deep dives into contemporary areas of practice. Each ASM is approximately 60 to 80-hours of learning. They provide you with a higher level of practical and theoretical knowledge in a specialised field of counselling*.
Flexible learning
ASMs can be studied entirely online. Learning material, including comprehensive workbook and lecture videos, is accessible from your student learning portal (My.AIPC). Assessments are online by multiple-choice. ASMs are supported by our academic team via all usual methods.
Enrol anytime
You can enrol in an ASM at the time you enrol into the Diploma of Counselling, or at any subsequent time. The advantage of early enrolment in an ASM is that studies can be completed concurrently with your Diploma.
